Life insurance

You are valuable! Because we truly believe this, we provide Basic Life and AD&D coverage to all employees who work 30+ hours per week, and we offer a buy-up option for more protection.

Basic Life and AD&D insurance

Eligible employees are automatically enrolled for Basic Life and Accidental Death and Dismemberment insurance through Minnesota Life/Securian. The amount you or your beneficiary would receive is equal to one times your base salary, rounded to the nearest $1,000, with a maximum of $200,000. You’re eligible to receive this benefit within the first month after you’ve completed 60 days of employment. Asurion pays the full cost for this benefit.

Please note: Life insurance above $50,000 is taxed by the federal government. The value of the premiums as determined by the IRS is reported as imputed income.

Supplemental Life insurance

You have the option to elect additional Life and AD&D coverage to supplement the Basic Life and AD&D coverage provided by Asurion. Important note! You must enroll within your first 30 days as a newly hired employee to take advantage of a guaranteed issue. This means that you won’t have to complete an evidence of insurability (EOI). EOI will apply for any enrollments after the guaranteed issue period.

If you elect Supplemental Life and/or AD&D insurance for yourself, you also may cover your spouse and/or child(ren).

Coverage options

  • Employee: 1-10 times your annual base salary, in increments of $10,000, up to $2.5 million
  • Spouse: $10,000 to $250,000 (available in increments of $10,000)
  • Child: $5,000, $10,000, $15,000 or $20,000

Supplemental AD&D insurance

This voluntary coverage provides an additional benefit beyond the Asurion-provided Basic coverage. A benefit is paid in the event of a fatal accident, or an unexpected event that causes loss of hearing, speech, sight or a limb. If you elect Supplemental AD&D insurance for yourself, you also may cover your spouse and/or child(ren).

Coverage options

  • Employee: 1-10 times your annual base salary, in increments of $10,000, up to $2.5 million
  • Spouse (with children): 50% of employee’s amount, up to a maximum of $250,000
  • Spouse (no children): 60% of employee’s amount, up to a maximum of $250,000
  • Each child (with spouse): 10% of employee’s amount, up to a maximum of $25,000
  • Each child (without spouse): 15% of employee’s amount, up to a maximum of $25,000
